Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We have compiled a list below of some frequently asked questions to help you.

What repairs is my landlord responsible for?

A landlord is expected to keep the house in a good state of repair for the duration of your tenancy. He is responsible for:

  • Ensuring your home is free from damp
  • Installations such as baths, drainage systems, toilets and baths
  • Gas pipes and electrical wiring
  • Repairs of the interior such as walls and stairs
  • Repairs of the exterior such as gutters, drains and pipes
  • Ensuring the property is free from vermin infestation

What can I claim for in disrepair cases?

As well as ensuring your landlord addresses the repairs in your home, you may also be able to claim for inconvenience caused. For example, you may not have been able to use a certain part of your home because of damp. You may also be able to claim for damage to your personal belongings, ill health caused by the state of the property and financial loss.

How do I make a claim?

Starting the process couldn’t be easier. Simply fill out the enquiry form or call 0151 229 1170 to speak to one of our experienced team who assess your situation and give you a free consultation.  If you case is accepted, you will receive a claim pack and your solicitor will begin the process.
